What You Can Expect at Our iRest Yoga Nidra Workshops
Prop yourself up with bolsters and blankets and be led back home to your authentic ground of being. Lindsay will guide you through this experience while your body rests comfortably in savasana (final resting pose.) Even if you fall asleep, all layers of your being are reaping enormous benefits.
This one-hour workshop is offered each month in our Oak Park studio and is live-streamed as well so you can take the class from any quiet, cozy location you desire.
Why Attend?
Practicing iRest yoga nidra helps us to build our interoceptive awareness, the process of feeling the body from within the body. It helps us to build a healthy sense of self by deeply understanding our functioning as human beings. It can also help us to improve our heart rate variability. iRest yoga nidra is well-supported by Polyvagal Theory, the work of Dr. Stephen Porges, who identified a biological order of human response that is active in all human experience. This hierarchy of response is built into our autonomic nervous system and is anchored in the evolutionary development of our species.
We are hard-wired to live with meaning, to connect to others, and to feel safe in our bodies, environments, and relationships. iRest helps us do that, and it can even help us to rewire “the chronic disruption of connection” that occurs when we experience trauma.
